Country Boy Can Survive
"Because you can't stomp us out and you can't make us run,
cause we're them ole boys raised on shotguns.
We say grace and we say mam
and if you ain't into that we don't give a damn...
and a country boy can survive, country folks can survive!"
- Hank Williams Jr.
With Spring Break, Holy Week, and welcoming the first of Spring...we decided to spend the entire week out at the farm. Remembering all the spring breaks I have spent out there the past 28 years, who would have thought then that I would be bringing my own 3 children out one day. The first 2 days were overcast with thunderstorms. But that did not keep us from having fun. Just put the kids in some rain boots and let them explore.
Then the sun finally made an appearance. Little caught his first fish, we colored Easter eggs, flew a kite, rode the riding lawn mower, played in the hot tub, and enjoyed the peace & quiet simple life. Oh how I wish this could be our life every day!
After witnessing gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, we packed up and returned to reality. Now only counting the weeks until our next country escape.
This week's photos!

What A Difference A Day Made
"What a difference a day made.
Twenty-four little hours.
Brought the sun and the flowers.
Where there used to be rain...
What a difference a day makes.
There’s a rainbow before me.
Skies above can’t be stormy."
- Natalie Cole
Thursday's winter blast brought us close to 5 inches of beautiful snow...our SECOND snowfall of March here in Texas. Once the boys came home from school we anxiously pulled out all of our 'Finnish' gear, including our sleds, and headed outside for some winter fun. And I must say we had the best dressed kids in the neighborhood! We built a snowman, made and ate snowballs, and even colored snow with squirt bottles filled with colored water.
Since we are back living in Texas, the snow was even more enjoyable. I knew I would wake up to clear-blue skies with a kiss of sun. Sure enough, today was a gorgeous short-sleeved weather day. We played outside watching our snowman slowly disappear. Until the next snowfall (that could be years), I will gladly put up the bunny suits and mittens and sit back and wait for our swimming pool to warm...my kind of weather ;)
