I Go Swimming

"Ooh, I go swimming, swimming in the water.
Swimming in the river, swimming in the sea.
I go swimming.
I go swimming, swimming in the water.
Swimming in the pool, swimming is cool.
I go swimming."
- Peter Gabriel

Our pool is officially open! Even though Daddy took the boys swimming 2 weeks ago, I don't think a quick in-and-out counts. Today we jumped in willingly, swam around, and had fun. Ms. Pink even had her fair share of pool time.

And of course after the fun, we engaged in our most favorite summertime snack...Bomb Pops!

Like The Weather

"The color of the sky as far as I can see is coal grey.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again.
With a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather...
What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid away?"
- 10,000 Maniacs

With the unpredictable Texas spring weather, many of our outings have been indoor lately. From snow, hail, thunderstorms, or 90+ degree days, plans must always be flexible.

Even though I prefer the outdoors, there are quite a few indoor play facilities to choose from. Just remember if it is a bad weather day, most other moms are heading indoor too. Going Bonkers, Pump It Up, Excite Gym, Let's Jump, and Chuck E. Cheese are just a few places to make these rainy days pass.

These Friends Of Mine

"These friends of mine
"They have lives.
They work hard.
To live them right.
And when they laugh.
It makes me high.
They'd take a train.
10,000 miles before they'd fly."
- Rosie Thomas

We were just blessed with a visit from some great friends we knew in Finland. What usually is a short layover in DFW for them, turned into a 3 night stay with us. A perfect opportunity to expose some 'Texan Pride' to someone who has never visited the Lone Star State. Even though the stay was short, we squeezed in a stop at some of our most favorite places before they had to return to the winter wonderland...not to mention some Tex-Mex, margaritas, Starbucks, and Target sprees.

The boys were thrilled to see a long lost girl friend and I was excited to show off Ms. Pink. It is amazing how kids can pick up right where things ended 10 months ago, just like it was yesterday. Their memory boggles my mind. We had a great time and hope to see them again someday. Maybe next time the weather will cooperate too!
